Fire, smoke & a whole lot of love

Every great food story starts somewhere. For Lowe & Behold, it started in the backyard.

What began as a simple hobby — smoking meats for family, friends, and the enjoyment of creating something from scratch — slowly became something much bigger. I found myself spending more time around the smoker, learning the craft, experimenting with flavors, and discovering just how much good barbecue could bring people together.

Then came the first reverse-flow smoker. That smoker changed everything.

What was once a backyard passion started to feel like a real possibility. I began thinking, What if I turned this hobby into something people could experience for themselves? That question eventually led to the decision to take a leap of faith and start a food truck. And that’s how Lowe & Behold was born.

The truck became more than a place to serve smoked meats. It became a way to meet people, build relationships, and create a community around food. Every customer, every plate served, and every word of encouragement helped turn a backyard hobby into a dream that was becoming reality.

But the dream didn’t stop with the truck. I wanted Lowe & Behold to have a home — a place where the food, the truck, and the people who have supported us could all come together. So I took another big step and purchased property in Landrum, South Carolina.

Today, I’m building that vision. The property will become a venue where I can smoke my meats, keep the Lowe & Behold truck, and welcome the loyal customers who have supported this journey from the beginning. It’s a place where barbecue can be enjoyed the way it was meant to be: surrounded by good people, good food, and a sense of community.

Lowe & Behold isn’t just a food truck. It’s a story about taking something you love, believing in it enough to take a chance, and building something that can bring people together.

From a smoker in my backyard to a food truck on the road, and now to a place of our own in Landrum — this is only the beginning.
